Samuel Grant "Sam" McNabb Sr.

Samuel Grant "Sam" McNabb, Sr., age 87, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Erwin Healthcare Center. A native of Erwin, Sam is a son of the late Ott Harry and Viola Lee (Wilson) McNabb. He was a member of Omega Baptist Church. Sam served the community throughout his life as an employee of Clinchfield Railroad, owner of Erwin Memorial Funeral Home, and an upholsterer. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and especially loved bear hunting. In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his loving wife, Priscilla Ann (Crowder) McNabb; one brother, John McNabb; and his brother-in-law, Jack Daniels.Samuel Grant "Sam" McNabb, Sr. has left behind to cherish his memory: son, Sammy McNabb (Rhonda); daughters: Debbie Rogers (Randy), Sonya "Suzanne" McNabb, and Crystal Lynthacum (Chris); grandchildren: Randy Rogers, Jr., Audrey Brewer, Jeremy Rogers, Andrew McNabb, Jaylen McIntosh, and Aidan Lynthacum; great-grandchildren: Colton Brewer, Dakota Brewer, Eliza McNabb, and Riley Garland; Sister, Betty Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.The family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice and to ALL the staff at Erwin Healthcare for their kindness and care during this difficult time.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Samuel Grant "Sam" McNabb, Sr. in a funeral service to be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 26, 2024 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 12:00 pm and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held following the funeral, in Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish to attend the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 2:00 pm on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
