Pearl Cooper Fischer, age 82, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Center on Aging and Health. A native of Poplar, NC, Pearl is a daughter of the late Bernie and Viola (Bryant) Cooper. She attended Erwin Church of God and was a seamstress by trade. She loved sewing and was happy to do it for everyone. Pearl loved everyone and to know her was to love her in return. In her time at Center on Aging and Health, she was voted in as the Resident Committee President and the Valentine Queen. It was also stated that they had never had as many residents show up for activities as they did after Pearl came to live there. She loved singing and thoroughly enjoyed her time shared with Chaplain Karl Gasser singing hymns. In addition to her parents, Pearl is preceded in death by her loving husband Arthur William "Bill" Fischer; daughter, Donna Blimline; brothers: Eston Cooper and Mack Cooper, great-granddaughter Candice Smoker and great-great-grandson Carver Parrish. Pearl Cooper Fischer has left behind to cherish her memory: granddaughters: Danielle Blimline (Mark Close), April Blimline, and Crystal Moore; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Morgan, Loren, and Micah (Danielle), Issac, Jazelyn, and Jase (April), Cole, Chloe, and Case (Crystal); brothers: Chris Cooper, Clinton Cooper, and Dean Cooper; Sisters: Dolly Springer, Phyllis Wheatley, Claudia "Bunny" Cooper, Glenda "Jenny" Davis, and Starlia Cooper; several nieces and nephews including special nieces: Amy Cooper Edwards (Jarid) and Angela Edwards Shelton; and special friends: Gladys Jenkins and Crystal Johnson. The family would like to offer special thanks to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially Becky Allen; the nurses and staff of the Center on Aging and Health, especially Becky Greenwell who was with her from day one until the very end; and to Reverend Kevin Laws and Reverend Karl Gasser for all of the love and care provided to her during this time. Per Pearl's wishes, she will be cremated, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Pearl's name to the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, 3239 E. 2nd Avenue, Denver, CO, 80206 in honor of her precious great-granddaughter, Loren Olivia. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.valleyfuneralhome.net or on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ValleyFuneralHomeErwin.
